Free App Start Me Up Automatically Runs Applications

Start Me Up

Cruising the forums I came across a cool new app that is totally free. Start Me Up by ShaoSoft is a small app that will automatically run applications on your device after booting. This is extremely handy for users with multiple applications that don’t have an auto-start option. Instead of going through apps one by one and running them, you can now set them to start up on their own when your device reboots. You can choose multiple applications, and even set a delay time (handy for some apps that require a network connection before running). Start Me Up is in the early stages, so if you have any issues be sure to check out this forum post. Head over to ShopCrackBerry.com to download.

BlackBerry App World Version 1.1.0.11 Now Available For Download

BlackBerry App World Version 1.1. Launched!

We posted about some of the upcoming changes to BlackBerry App World just the other day, now you can grab the latest version from the BlackBerry App World website. New features include:

  • Archive applications (free or purchased) to the external MicroSD memory card.
  • Enjoy quick re-installation of applications.
  • Choose to browse free or paid applications when viewing catalog.

Anyone who has app world installed should grab this update as it corrects a lot of issues, and users are reporting it is working much better. Plus, the new features are a step in the right direction. Sadly though, "BlackBerry App World" still does not seem very worldly but at this point RIM has not provided a full change log or updated BlackBerry.com.

AT&T Advertisement Shows BlackBerry OS on Nokia E71x

Nokia E71x

Here’s a fun Friday story thats good for a chuckle. CrackBerry member Jacob K. was in his local AT&T store last week and saw this ad on the wall for the Nokia E71x. Notice anything odd? If you look closely you can see the banner is clearly that of the BlackBerry OS. Reminds me of this ad that RadioShack ran last year featuring a BlackBerry Curve running Windows Mobile. Thanks to Jacob for sending this in!

BlackBerry Tour Coveroo

This Wednesday Sprint held their BlackBerry Tour launch party in NYC at the Thompson Hotel (I tried to make it in for the event but due to a 10 hour weather delay landed in NYC at 1:30am!!). Our friends from Coveroo made it to the party though and etched over 200 custom BlackBerry Tour battery covers there. Some celebs made it to the event and got Coverooed up – Brooke Shields got NYC on her Tour; Chloe Sevigny got CSS and Ian Somerhalder got his initials done up. Check out more photos below.

Win a BlackBerry Tour Coveroo Contest: In honor of the launch of the BlackBerry Tour, Coveroo is offering up 10 free BlackBerry Tour Coveroos (I just love typing that word) to 10 lucky members of CrackBerry.com. Just leave a comment to this blog post and you’ll be entered to win. Contest ends Sunday at Midnight PST.

Visit Coveroo.com: If you haven’t dropped by Coveroo’s website in a while, you should check it out. They’ve redesigned it so it’s easier than ever to personalize your BlackBerry with the Coveroo that suits you. Head to Coveroo.com >>

New: River Runner 3D for the BlackBerry Storm

River Runner

Looking for a new game to load up onto your BlackBerry Storm this weekend? Look no further than River Runner 3D. Following up on the success of Wrath and Freddy Falling (which now works on the Bold and Tour), this is the third game to come from Lone Dwarf games and is a good one.

River Runner is a 3D game, inspired by Cube Runner iPhone game, that allows you to steer your boat through the courses using the Storm’s accelerometer. Another cool feature is that you can use your own personal music collection as the sound track! There are 4 tracks, you can pick up charms for extra points (and hit anchors which slow you down) and there’s even internet high score tracking to see how you stack up to other River Runner players. River Runner sells for $2.99 – no free trial available.

Deal of the Day: Save 50% on Remote Desktop for Mobiles

RDM+ for BlackBerry Smartphones

Back in April Bla1ze reviewed RDM+ (Remote Desktop for Mobiles) and came away thoroughly impressed. As you can probably guess from its name, Remote Desktop for Mobiles allows you to use your mobile device (in this case your BlackBerry of course!) to remotely access your computer or laptop. You can send and receive emails, surf web, edit documents in word processor, copy, cut, paste files or folders and do hundreds other things that you typically do sitting in front of your home or office computer. For power users or those who work in IT, this is an extremely useful application.

Aa today’s CrackBerry Deal of the Day, you can save 50% on RDM+, meaning you can get it for $19.97 vs. the $39.95 regular retail price. A free trial is also available, so you can give it a quick go for free before deciding if this is an app you need to have on your BlackBerry. For more info, check out Bla1ze’s review and RDM+’s product page (be sure to read the customer reviews).

And remember, if you don’t want to miss out you can visit CrackBerryDealoftheDay.com every 24 hours to see what app is on for 50% off (we won’t blog the DoD every day).
